Merchants and Traders

Fish merchants and traders are a vital part of the fishing industry. They include fish merchants who land and sell the catch at market, smokehouses that process fish such as herring and salmon and chandlers and grocers who supply stores and provisions to the fishing fleet.

Changes within the fishing industry have had a great impact on these businesses. Many have had to make great changes and others have disappeared altogether.
